My College Journey With Four Legged Friends

A warm hello to all the readers and a big thank you for reading this blog. I am sure all the readers are big animal lovers constantly hoping for their happy and healthy lives. Not all of us are necessarily pet owners; some of us believe in caring for every animal we see on the streets. Regardless, we all have a heart full of love and care for animals. Today, Jaldee Vets allowed me to share my experience with my beloved furry friends.

So I will briefly introduce myself as a college student who loves hanging out with animals, especially dogs. I have a rabbit and a dog at home. But I currently live in a different city to pursue my degree. And I miss them. So I fill out that love on all other four-legged friends that I see. Be it a pet or a stray dog.

Hostel Days

I stayed in the campus hostel during the first two years of my degree. And honestly, the gate entry timings were funny. We must enter the hostel gate by 6 in the evening. Therefore, I had to stay in the hostel premises most of my free time. In comparison, all my friends took a pg or a different hostel. But that is when I found a lovely friend searching for food and love from everyone on the campus.

There was a cute tiny dog with a small fluffy tail. He was simply adorable but so clever at the same time. The little guy resembled a fox, so my roommate and I named him “Foxy.” We would feed him some biscuits and give him a lot of belly rubs. And he became my four-legged best friend for the duration. I don’t know what is up with dogs and how they understand if a human is upset. But he always stayed by my side on my bad days and constantly tried to cheer me up.

Soon I got attached to all the dogs on the hostel premises, but Foxy was my favorite.

And suddenly, Corona hit us, and everyone had to return home. While it meant I could spend time with my pets, I was constantly worried about Foxy.  And with god’s grace, he stayed healthy and fit when we all returned from home.

Flat Days

After spending almost three years in the hostel, I decided to take a flat near my college. And even though it meant more freedom and enjoyment with friends, it hurt me to leave all my furry friends. I constantly wondered if Foxy would miss me. And the honest answer is, yes, he does! He had zoomies the last time I visited him.

When I shifted to the flat, I spent the whole time with my friends the first few days. But I missed all my dogs. So I decided to feed a few dogs around my colony. And that is when I found another friend. He looks so much like Foxy that I instantly got attached to him. And since my roommate and I could not come around to a proper name this time, we call him “Gochu”  for now.

Gochu is a scared stray dog who is always alone and terrified of the other dogs. Not anymore, though! I fed him for some days, and now he follows me everywhere. To protect me, or maybe he likes my company. But whatever the reason, he is ready to leave his territory and known area to follow me. He even knocks on my door when he is hungry or sad. And now, we are best of friends.

I have not had great human friends, but my love for our cute four-legged friends has always kept me happy. And dogs are indeed a man’s best friend. Over the years, I have fed many dogs on the street, played with hundreds of pet dogs, and never have I felt negative around them. And I count my pets, Pikachu and Sam, as my family, along with my four legged friends, Foxy and Gochu.

Animals have the purest soul and big hearts for everyone. If we can offer them kindness, food, and love, they will stay by our side through thick and thin. And that is my experience with dogs throughout my life.
